As Dan White tells it: ‘‘We always start our board meetings saying ‘Thank God we are not a public company’.’’
From humble beginnings in Crows Nest, near Toowoomba almost 111 years ago, the Ray White Group remains firmly in the family’s grasp.
is Australia’s largest residential property network and is a major player in the commercial side of the business. But Mr White said the company will increasingly integrate its different arms and more under the one Ray White brand.
‘‘From a consumer point of view we will be Ray White –one group,’’ he said.
‘‘If they deal with Ray White they know they are dealing with the whole group and all that it has to offer.’’
The franchise model has been a major factor in the Ray White’s commercial operations. But Mr White said the family will be strong participants in that side of the business.
‘‘While what we have had in the past has served very well we realise that as a family we need to provide greater opportunities to our people,’’he said.
‘‘We have businesses around the country and we will continue to grow our franchises in commercial.‘‘But in the capital cities we will be running those businesses as a corporate owner.’’
Ray White has more than 10,000 employees across all of its businesses. It also has 60 commercial franchisee businesses in Australia, New Zealand and Asia.
It plans to open an office in Singapore soon and is looking towards China.
