Community Centres & Facilities

There are many community centres and facilities that are available for hire and use:

  • Lidcombe Community Centre
  • Auburn Centre for the Community
  • Regents Park and Lidcombe Community Centres
  • Newington Community Centre and Rage Cage (outdoor sports facility)
  • Peacock Gallery & Auburn Arts Studio
  • Regents Park Community Hub
  • Council’s Town Hall and meeting rooms
  • Progress Park Sports and Community Centre
  • 24 seater Community Bus (for local not for profit groups)

The facilities are designed for all groups in the community, with a particular focus on activities for children, recreational programs, education and the creative arts.

Community facilities play an important role in contributing to the overall social wellbeing of the community. Considering that the Auburn region is one of the fastest growing areas in Sydney, the current demand for community space has lead to a severe need to additional facilities.

In July 2014, Auburn Council adopted the Auburn City Community Facilities Strategy 2014 – 2024.

The Strategy outlines Council’s vision for the development of high quality and accessible community facilities across Auburn City including priorities, shortfalls and the required rate of provision in order to meet current needs and future population growth over the next ten years.
